HOW TO WEAR SUMMER DRESSES IN WINTER

If you have lots of summer dresses that you’re worried you only got one or two wears out of the last few months, do not fear; their life is not over yet. This trend from the 90’s allows us to recycle summer dresses and use them as a layering technique over the winter months. This trend is for the daring, a lot of people may question you but I say just commit to it and be bold! The technique is simple: layer your dress over a pair of jeans or leggings. This look is simple yet could easily go horribly wrong so I have some tips for this look:

  1. keep the jean clean, no bulky fastenings that you might see under the dress
  2. if wearing an oversized dress make the jeans oversized too, like a crop flare for added effect
  3. when wearing a long fitted dress keep the leg of your jeans fitted too or it could end up looking frumpy
  4. match the colour of your dress to your trousers for a two-piece look

Here I have gone with a straight leg denim in pale blue to contrast against the black of the dress. This dress is ideal to be worn over jeans because it has a beautiful lace trimmed side split which can be appreciated next to the pale denim. I’ve worn it with simple sandals to keep the look quite casual but if I wanted to make this look ready for a night out I could easily add a barely there heel and instantly the look is night-out ready.

  1. I love how dresses look over jeans, I used to do this when I was a child and no one really got it and still do it to this day. Glad to see I am not the only one who does it! Lovely photos 🙂 RLotour xx
